Tabi’in: Zainul Abidin Ali ibn Hussein bin Ali bin Abi Talib

That year, the history of the Persian empire was over. Yazdajird, the last emperor of Persi died in exile, while all property, soldiers and courtiers became prisoners of the Muslims. All of them were transported to Madinah al-Munawarah.

The victory of the Muslims produced a large number of prisoners, from a respectable circle and never had the residents of Medina seen the results of the ghanimah as much and so valuable as that. Among the prisoners were three emperor Yazdajird’s daughters.

People pay attention to the prisoners and a few moments later some of them buy it, while the pay is put into baitul maal of the Muslims. There was nothing left behind other than the beautiful princesses who were still young.

When offered for sale, they all bowed to the earth feeling despicable and low. Tears melted from their cheeks.

Ali bin Abi Talib felt sorry to see him and hoped that the people who would buy the daughters were people who could respect their dignity and be able to care for them well, because the Prophet sallallaahu aih alaihi wa sallam once said, “Have mercy on the despised nobles.”

Immediately he approached Amir al-mu’minin Umar bin Khathab and proposed: “The princess of the emperor should not be treated like other captives.” Umar Radhiyallahu ‘anhu said, “You are right, but how?” Ali said, “Announce their prices as high as possible, then give them the freedom to choose people who are willing to pay for it. “

Ali’s advice was approved and immediately implemented by Umar. The first daughter chose Abdullah bin Umar, the second daughter chose Muhammad bin Abu Bakr, while the three who were summoned by Shah Zina chose Husayn ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib radhiyallahu ‘anhu, grandson of the Prophet sallallaahu‘ alaihi wa sallam.

Shortly after, the third daughter immediately embraced Islam and had a good Islamic faith. So he was lucky with a straight religion, also freed and made a wife by Hussein after he was a slave. After that he abandoned all matters relating to paganism (idol worship) and changed the name “Shah Zinan” which meant the queen of the women became “Ghazalah.”

Ghazalah was very happy to be the wife of the best and most deserving husband to get the king’s daughter. So that he no longer dreams of getting a gift from a child.

Some time later, Allah also glorified him, not long after he was blessed with a handsome child. He gave him the name Ali, the same as the name of his grandfather Ali bin Abi Talib radhiyallahu ‘anhu.

It’s just that, happiness was not long felt by Ghazalah. He immediately fulfilled his Rabb’s call due to continuous bleeding after giving birth. So there is no chance for him to have fun with his child.

Now, the child is being cared for by a slave girl. He is loved like the blood of his own flesh, kept better than his own son. So the little one grew up without knowing another mother besides the slave girl.

In his teens, Ali bin Husayn was very diligent and enthusiastic about studying. His first Madrasa was his own home, the noblest house and his teacher was his own father. The second Madrasah is the Ash-Sharif Nabawi Mosque which is crowded with remnants of the Companions of the Prophet sallallaahu aih alaihi wa sallam and the first generation of tabi’in.

They were so enthusiastic in educating the main sons of friends. Teaching Kitabullah, jurisprudence, as well as a history of the traditions of the Prophet sallallaahu aih alaihi wa sallam according to the target and the object he was aiming for. Also tells about the journey and the struggle of the Prophet, about the Arabic poetry and its beauty. Filling their hearts with love, fear, and piety to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. And finally they succeeded in becoming scholars who wanted to do good deeds and became guides for those who got instructions.

It’s just that Ali bin Husayn’s heart was not related to anything beyond his heart’s attachment to the Book of Allah. There is no other thing that is more admired and feared than the sentences, promises and threats that are in it.

If the verse that he read mentions heaven, it seems that he has a longing for him. When reading verses about hell, trembling trembles as if seeing and feeling the heat of fire on his body.

Entering adulthood, he grew into a young man who was rich in knowledge and devotion. The inhabitants of Medina found him as a young man of Banu Hashim who deserved to be exemplified by worship and his devotion, respect, knowledge and knowledge, reached the peak of worship and his piety. To the extent that every time ablution was seen his face was pale as if in fear. When asked about it, he replied, “Duhai wretched, don’t you know who I will be facing and who will I talk to?”

Seeing his personality, his people gave the nickname “Zainul Abidin” (Ornament of experts of worship) and this nickname was better known than his real name. In addition, due to prolonged prostration, residents of Medina also referred to it as “as-Sajjad.” And because of its clean soul, it was also dubbed “Az-Zakiy.”

Zainul Abidin believes that the marrow of worship is prayer. He himself likes to pray at the curtain of the Ka’ba with his prayer, “O my Rabb, You make me feel Your mercy on me as I feel and You give me pleasure as You have given me, so I pray in peace without fear and ask how I like without shame and doubt. O my Rabb, I bless you with the care of a weak servant who desperately needs your mercy and strength to carry out your obligations and fulfill your rights. Then accept my prayer, the prayer of the weak, foreign and no one is able to help except you alone, O Akramal Akramin … “

Thawus bin Kaisan had seen Zainul Abidin standing in the shadow of Baitul Atiq (ka’bah), gelagapan like a drowning person, crying like the lament of a sick person and praying constantly like someone who was desperately desperate for needs. After Zainul Abidin finished praying, Thawus bin Kaisan approached and said,

Thawus: “O great grandson of the Messenger of Allah, I see you in such a state even though you have three virtues that I think can secure you from fear.”

Zainul Abidin: “Is that O Thawus?”

Thawus: “First, you are the descendants of the Prophet sallallaahu‘ alaihi wa sallam. Second, you will get intercession from your grandfather and thirdly, God’s mercy for you. “

Zainul Abidin: “O Thawus, my line of descent from the Prophet did not guarantee my security after I heard the word of God:

“… then the trumpet was blown again, so there was no longer any connection between them that day …” (Surat al-Mukminun: 101)

As for my grandfather’s intercession, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala has revealed His word:

“They do not give intercession but to those who are blessed by Allah.” (QS. Al-Anbiya: 28)

As for the mercy of God, look at His words:

“Surely the mercy of Allah is very close to those who do good.” (Surah Al-A’raf: 56)

The destiny of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala desires, the piety of Zainul Abidin is truly not exceeded by others. Its policies, generosity and true nature. No wonder the story of his life always enlivened the history books and scented his pages with his nobleness. Among them is the history of Hasan bin Hasan:

There had been a dispute between me and my uncle’s son, Zainul Abidin. I went to him when he was in the mosque with his friends. I cursed it all out, but he just kept quiet until I came home. At night someone knocked on the door of my house. I opened it to see who was coming. Apparently Zainul Abidin. I don’t doubt anymore, he will definitely repay my treatment this afternoon. But it turned out he was just talking, “O my brother, if what you said was true, may Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala forgive me. And if what you say is not true, may He forgive you … “Then he passed after saying hello.

Feeling guilty, I chased after him and said, “Really, I won’t repeat words that you don’t like.” He said, “I have forgiven you.”

Another story told by a young Madinah narrates, “When I saw Zainul Abidin coming out of the mosque, I followed him and immediately cursed him. It turns out that it makes people angry. They crowded around me. Had they really done it, I would have been battered. Fortunately, at that time Zainul Abidin said, “Leave this man alone.” So they allowed myself.

Seeing me trembling with fear, he stared with a friendly face and reassured, then said, “You have harmed me as far as you know, even though what you don’t know is even greater. Do you have a need so I can help you? “

I became very embarrassed and said nothing. When he saw my signal, he gave me a shirt and a thousand dirhams. Since then, every time I see it, I say, “I testify that you really are indeed the descendants of the Prophet sallallaahu‘ alaihi wa sallam. “

The next story was told by his aides, “I am the servant of Ali bin Husein. One time I was told to fulfill one of his needs, but I was late doing it. As soon as I came I was whipped by him.

I cried in anger because he had never whipped anyone before that. I said, “Allah … Allah … O Ali bin Husein, why when you told me to fulfill your needs, but after I fulfilled you just hit me?”

He was shocked and then cried to hear my words. Then said, “Go to the Nabawi Mosque, pray two rak’ahs then pray, Allah O Allah, forgive Ali bin Hussein.” If you want to do it, you will liberate me. “I followed his words. I pray and pray as he asks. When I returned to his house, I had become a free person. “

Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala gave the gift of abundant wealth to Zainul Abidin. His trade was always profitable and his farm was fertile, managed by his slaves. Increasingly progressing trade and agriculture are increasing in wealth.

But Zainul Abidin did not have fun with his wealth. His attitude does not change. His wealth is used to build the path of goodness to the hereafter. That is, wealth becomes beautiful in the hands of righteous servants. Among the good deeds that he likes are charity secretly.

As the night began to get dark, he carried a sack of flour on his back, out through the darkness of the night when people slept soundly. He went around the house of the needy who did not like to stretch his hands.

No wonder there are many poor people of Medina who live without knowing where they fall from. After Ali bin Husein died and they no longer received the sustenance, then they realized who the generous human was.

When Zainul Abidin’s body was bathed, there were black marks on his back, so they asked those who bathed him: “What is this former?” After the death of Zainul Abidin, the help of the needy was cut off.

Massive slave liberation by Zainul Abidin was spread by nomads to the east and west. His behavior seems like a tale that is engineered and exceeds the count of those who count it.

Zainul Abidin used to free slaves who worked well in return for them. He also freed slaves who had been beaten or persecuted as ransoms. It was amazing that he had freed a thousand slaves and had never used the power of a slave for more than a year. Most of them were freed at night edul I care Fithri, a night full of blessings. He asked them to face the Qibla and pray: “O Allah, forgive Ali bin Husein,” before they left, he gave him double provisions to widen so that they felt multiple happiness.

He was loved and respected by all residents of Medina. When he walks to the mosque or returns from him, people always pay attention to him from the side of the road.

Ever Hisham bin Abdul Malik, who was serving as Amir al-mu’minin, came to Mecca for Hajj. When he thawaf and wanted to kiss Hajar Aswad, the guards ordered the people to make way for him. But they did not want to step aside and ignored Amir al-mu’minin’s entourage, because it was the house of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and all humans were His servants.

Meanwhile from a distance there was the sound of tahlil (laa ilaaha illallah) and takbir, in the midst of the crowd a person with a small figure, his face glowing, seemed calm, and authoritative. He wore a cloth and a robe, on his forehead was a former prostration. People stand in line, welcoming with a view full of love and longing. He continued walking towards Hajar Aswad then kissed him.

A bodyguard turned to Hisham: “Who are the people who are respected in such a way by the people?” Hisham said, “I do not know.” Farazdak was present nearby, then he said, “Perhaps Hisham is not familiar, but I know him. He is Ali bin Husein. “Next he poems:

This person, the rocks he stepped on also knew

Haram and Baitullah also knew him

He is the best son among all the servants of God

Devoted, holy, clean, and the breadth of his knowledge

He is the grandson of Fatima if you don’t know her yet

Great-grandson of the person whom Allah closed the Prophets with him

Your question “who he is” does not reduce his fame

Arabs and Ajam know, even though you don’t know him

His hands are like rain, all of them use it

Humans need a helping hand

Nobody was disappointed by him

Never said “no” other than in his tasyahud

Even if it’s not because of shahadah, surely there is only the word “yes”

Spread goodness in the midst of humans

Sir, tyranny, poor and poor

If the Quraysh saw him it must have said:

Is that so high?

Bowed his eyes in shame at him

Feeling dwarfed by his greatness

Never forget to smile when speaking

In his hand was a stick that smelled of aroma

From the hands of intelligent humans, the nose smells the fragrance

His descendants of the Prophet were originally

What a noble origin, morality, and temperament

May Allah be the great grandson of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam and he is pleased. Indeed, he is a portrait of a man who is afraid of Allah, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, both alone and in crowds, fulfilling his soul with fear of the torment of Allah and the hope of His reward.

Islamic figures: Abu Muslim al-Khaulani, Abdullah bin Tsuwab

News spread throughout the Arabian Peninsula that the Prophet sallallaahu aih alaihi wa sallam got sick after he returned from Hajj Wada. Satan also provoked Aswad al-Ansi to return to disbelief after his faith. And so he said about God with lies. He claimed to his people as a prophet sent by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

He is a strong human body, big ambition, hard soul and familiar with his crime. He is also an expert in matters of jahiliyah shamanism, likes to use magic to harm people. In addition to him, he is also fluent in oral, good argument, intelligent brain, clever to mislead people with ignorance. He sought support by distributing gifts and gifts. When appearing in public he always wore a black mask to impress haunted and felt strong prowess.

Quickly the propaganda of Aswad al-Ansi spread across Yemen like a fire that burned weeds. He was assisted by the Bani Madhaj tribe, the largest group in Yemen in terms of numbers and power. It is also supported by the ability to manipulate false stories, falsehoods and manipulate clever followers to strengthen their tactics.

He claimed that angels descended from the heavens to bring revelation and tell him things unseen, then he made various engineering so that people believed in his confession.

He put spies in various places to listen to the problems the people complained about, uncover their secrets, and provoke the ideals and hopes that were stored in their minds. At the same time he tried to get people to help him.

When people come, he serves them well, fulfills all their needs and overcomes all their difficulties. He shows as if he knows all the secrets stored in their hearts. He exhibited miraculous and amazing things so they could conjure up their minds and confuse their minds.

In a short time the name became big, the greatness became more famous, more followers. Shan’a is now under his control, from here it continues to spread to other places to encompass all of Yemen, between Hadramaut, Tha’if, Bahrain and Aden.

When he feels great strength, and many countries and powers, he acts in pursuit of those who oppose him, people who are blessed with faith in God sincerely and in a straight religion.

Against these people Aswad al-Ansi acted violently, not even hesitate to commit sadistic torture. Among the opponents, there was a figure named Abdullah bin Tsuwab known as the Abu Muslim al-Khaulani.

Abu Muslim al-Khaulani is a person whose faith is strong, never compromises with ignorance and always calls for truth. He gave his life to Allah alone, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. He steered clear of worldly pleasures and jewelry, bernadzar that his life would be used to obey Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and preach his religion. The sale of cheap-cheap pleasures while in the world to be exchanged for eternal enjoyment. No wonder people greet him well, seeing him as a person who is pure in his soul and must pray on the side of his Lord.

Aswad al-Ansi was itching to arrest Abu Muslim and punish him as hard as possible. So that other people who will oppose it tremble and can be subdued.

So, he ordered his soldiers to collect firewood in the Shan’a field, then set it on fire. People were called to witness how a fiqh expert in Yemen and his worship expert Abu Muslim al-Khaulani wanted to “repent” to Aswad and believe in his prophethood.

Until the planned time, Aswad al-Ansi entered a field that had been filled with humans. He walked in tight control, then sat on an oversized chair in front of a blazing fire.

A moment later, Abu Muslim al-Khaulani was dragged into the middle of the arena. The cruel liar looked at Abu Muslim proudly, and turned towards the flaming fire and licked while asking,

Aswad: “Do you testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?”

Abu Muslim: “Yes, I testify that he is a servant of Allah and His messenger. He is the sayyidul mursalin and the closing of the Prophets. “

Aswad al-Ansi’s forehead muttered. His eyebrows intertwined with angry signs.

Aswad: “Do you testify that I am an apostle of God?”

Abu Muslim: “My ears are clogged, can’t hear your words.”

Aswad: “Then, I will throw you into the fire.”

Abu Muslim: “If you burn me with fire from wood, you will be rewarded with fire with the fuel of men and stones, under the guarding of mighty angels, who are not against Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and always obey the commandments given to them.

Aswad: “I’m not in a hurry, I give you a chance to use your brain. Do you still acknowledge that Muhammad is an apostle of Allah? “

Abu Muslim: “Right. I testify that Muhammad is a servant of Allah and His messenger. God sent him with the right religion and instructions. God closed all of his treatises with the treatises brought by Muhammad. “

Aswad al-Ansi raised his voice.

Aswad: “You testify that I am a messenger of God?”

Abu Muslim: “I told you, my ears were blocked so I couldn’t hear your words.”

Increasingly furious, Aswad al-Ansi heard the firmness of answers, calmness and determination. He wanted to order the Muslim Abu al-Khaulani to be thrown into the fire, but his right hand tried to prevent it while whispering in his ear: “You know that this person is pure in spirit, his prayer is perfect, while Allah never allows His servants who believe in times critical. If you throw him into the fire then it turns out that God saved him, then everything you build with great difficulty will be destroyed in an instant, because people will deny your prophethood right then and there. If you burn it and he dies, people will admire him, even flattering him as a martyr. Therefore, you better let him go, just leave him out of this country. Avoid him, you will be more calm and relaxed. “

The false prophet accepted the suggestion. He arrested Abu Muslim and drove him out of Yemen.

Abu Muslim al-Khaulani left for Madinah and sincerely hoped to meet the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. He had believed before meeting the Prophet sallallaahu aih alaihi wa sallam and longing to accompany him as a friend.

But unfortunately, yet to enter Medina, he heard the news that the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam had died and Abu Bakr ash-Siddiq radhiyallahu‘ anhu was chosen as the caliph of the Muslims. It was immeasurable how disappointed he was to hear it.

Arriving in Medina, he went straight to the Prophet’s Mosque. He tethered his camel beside the mosque, then entered the Nabawi Mosque after saying the prayer and greetings to the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam.

He approached one of the pillars of the mosque and prayed there. After the prayer, Umar bin Khathab radhiyallahu ‘anhu approached him while asking,

Umar: “Where are you from?”

Abu Muslim: “I am from Yemen.”

Umar: “How’s our brother who was about to be burned alive by the enemy of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala then God saved him?”

Abu Muslim: “Thank God he is in good condition.”

Umar: “For God’s sake, aren’t you the person?”

Abu Muslim: “Right,”

So Umar bin Khathab kissed between the eyes of Abu Muslim.

Umar: “Didn’t you hear the news about what Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala did to His enemy and your enemy?”

Abu Muslim: “No. Since leaving Yemen, I no longer hear the news. “

Umar: “Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala has killed al-Ansi through the hands of believers who were there and ended his power and returned his followers to the path of Allah.”

Abu Muslim: “All praise for Allah has not killed me until I hear of the death of the villain and the return of the Yemeni population to the bosom of Islam.”

Umar: “All praise for Allah gave me the opportunity to meet the people of Muhammad sallallaahu‘ alaihi wa sallam who were to be treated like khalilullah (beloved of Allah) Ibrahim aih alaihissalam. “

After that Umar bin Khathab invited Abu Muslim to face the caliph Abu Bakr as-Siddiq radhiyallahu ‘anhu. Then he blessed the Muslim caliph.

Upon arrival of Abu Muslim, Abu Bakr invited him to sit between himself and Umar Radhiyallahu ‘anhu. After the two main friends talked and listened to the story of Abu Muslim regarding Aswad al-Ansi.

For a long time Abu Muslim al-Khaulani lived in Medina. He diligently came to the Nabawi Mosque, prayed at the holy Raudhah and studied with prominent figures such as Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah, Abu Dhar al-Ghifari, Ubaidah bin Shamit, Muadz bin Jabal, and Auf bin Malik al-Asyja. After that he headed to Sham and settled there. He chose to stay at the border so he could join the Muslims in fighting the Romans and gain the reward of the mujahid fi sabilillah.

When the khilafah was held by Amir al-mu’minin Mu’awiyah bin Abi Sufyan, Abu Muslim often attended his assembly. Many famous events that show the majesty of these two people along with the degree and adab applied by them.

Ever Abu Muslim came to Mu’awiyah who was sitting in the middle of a meeting. He was surrounded by officials, warlords, and clan figures. He saw how people respect and flatter Mu’awiyah excessively. He was worried that this would damage the faith of Amir al-mu’minin, so that he would greet him first: “Assalamu’alaika ya ajiral (servant) of believers.” Spontaneously people rebuked him, “Say,‘ Amirul Mukminin (leader) of believers. “

He did not care about their response and even repeated his greeting, “Assalamu’alaika is the apostle of the believers.” People say, “Amir al-mu’minin, O Abu Muslim.” He remained in his position saying, “Assalamu’alaika ya ajiral mukminin.”

When people began to criticize him, he said, “You are the one who was appointed by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala as an official for the people, like the people hired to take care of their livestock. He will be given a big wage, if he manages the farm properly and diligently takes care so that the small ones become big, the thin ones get fat and the sick become healthy. But if careless, do not take care of it properly, so that the livestock are emaciated and die, the yield of fur and milk shrinks, then he will not be rewarded, he will even receive wrath and punishment. Therefore you, O Mu’awiyah, may choose which one is good for you and forget which one you want. “

The Caliph sat listening and then raised his head and said, “May Allah reward you better for your attention to us and the people. We know you who always give advice because of God and His apostles and for the good of the Muslims. “

Another case, when Abu Muslim al-Khaulani attended Friday prayers in Damascus. Amirul Mu’minin Mu’awiyah delivered a sermon containing an appeal for people to clean and dredge the Barada river so that the water is clean.

When he was in the midst of the sermon, from the midst of the congregation Abu Muslim raised his voice: “O Mu’awiyah, do you realize that today or tomorrow you will die and be homeless? When you bring lunch, that’s what you are told. If you come empty-handed then you will find your place in the form of a flat lahat. I hope that you don’t expect Mu’awiyah to believe that power is merely an order to dig a river and collect wealth. Khiafah demands a right practice and just action that calls on people to the things Allah blessed Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

O Mu’awiyah, you don’t need to worry about the murky river if the source is clean. In fact you are our source, so try to keep yourself clean. O Mu’awiyah, if you menzhalimi someone, then the tyranny can be removed with your justice. Beware of tyranny, because it is darkness in the hereafter. “

When Abu Muslim finished his words, Mu’awiyah descended from the pulpit, approached him and said, “May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala bless you and may Allah repay your kindness.”

Another example, when Mu’awiyah returned to appear in the pulpit to preach, he postponed the distribution of property to the community in the next two months. Abu Muslim admonished him: “O Mu’awiyah this property is not your property or your father’s property. Why did you keep him for so long from people? “

A sign of anger seems implied on Mu’awiyah’s face. People are waiting for what they want to do. He motioned for the people to remain in their respective places, while he himself descended from the pulpit, performed ablution then poured over his body and then went up again to the pulpit.

Then he recited the tahmid and tasbih and said, “Tadi Abu Muslim warned that this treasure was not my property or my father’s property. There really isn’t anything wrong with those words. I heard the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “Angry comes from Satan and Satan comes from fire, so if one of you is angry, please take a bath immediately.” O brothers and sisters, you take your rights with the blessings of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta ‘ala. “

May Allah repay the kindness of Abu Muslim al-Khaulani who is able to be a good example in conveying the truth. May Allah bestow His mercy and pleasure on Amir al-mu’minin Mu’awiyah bin Abi Sufyan because he gave an example to the rulers of how to accept the truth and submit to the right sentence.

Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar bin Khathab, Umar’s Grandson

We enter the era of the Caliphate of al-Faruq Umar bin Khathab. The time when Medina was abundant with the results of the Ghanimah obtained by the Muslims from the treasures of the last Persian Emperor, Yazdajurd. There were crowns studded with gems, shawls made of pearls, as well as gold swords encrusted with jewels and marjan that they had never seen before.

Apart from these valuables, there are also a large group of prisoners. Among the captives were the Emperor’s three daughters. At the initiative of Ali bin Abi Talib, the ransom prices of the three daughters were installed as high as possible, then they were given the freedom to choose among young Muslims who would redeem them.

The first daughter chose Muhammad bin Abi Bakar who later gave birth to a faqih figure of Medina, Qasim bin Muhammad. The second daughter chose Abdullah bin Umar bin Khathab who gave birth to a son named Salim who was very similar to his grandfather, Umar bin Khathab. While the third daughter chose Husayn bin Ali ibn Abi Talib who finally gave birth to Zainul Abidin.

Now, we will explore the beauty of the life journey of Salim bin Abdillah bin Umar, his father and his grandfather.

Salim was born in Medina al-Munawarah, the city which contained in it the tomb of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, the city the destination of which the air is full of nubuwat fragrance, the place of Allah’s revelations.

He grew up under the care of his zuhud father, shawwam-qawwam (shiyam expert and night prayer expert), who had the character and character of Umar. From the beginning the father had seen signs of Allah’s devotion and guidance in Salim. Reflected on the Islamic morality that is firmly above the Koran over other brothers. No wonder the father loves him sincerely, so that the other children are jealous of him. Abdullah responded to their attitude with his sya’ir:

They were jealous of my treatment of Salim

It is true, the skin between my eyes and nose is Salim

Dada Salim is filled with the traditions of the Prophet, explored the religion of Allah, was taught about interpretations and subsequently fostered in the noble holy land.

At that time, the Nabawi Mosque was still crowded with the presence of friends. When this young man entered, he met every corner of the mosque full of friends who were full of the teachings and fragrance of the words of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. Wherever he cast his eyes or ears, there is only kindness.

Luckily Salim is able to take advantage of this opportunity. He inhaled as much knowledge as possible from the figures of his friends, including Abu Yusuf al-Ansari, Abu Hurairah, Abu Rafi, Abu Lubadah, Zaid bin Khathab, in addition to his own father, Abdullah bin Umar. Naturally, if in the not too distant future, he has been confirmed as a pious person, a figure of Tabi’in and one of the jurisprudence which is a place to ask Muslims in Medina about religion and Shari’a, about the problems of religion and world problems.

More than that, officials often ask for their advice and opinions when facing problems. They were impressed and very sympathetic to Salim bin Abdullah. He became a mainstay because of the subtlety of the language and the sweetness of the words. If the guardians and emirs oppose his views, do not expect the people of Medina to obey them.

For example, as experienced by Abdurrahman bin Dhahhak as mayor of Medina at the time of the Caliphate Yazid bin Abdul Malik. At this time Fatima bint Husein bin Ai was widowed with several sons. Ibn Dhahhak came to ask for his hand, but Fatima refused him gently, “Sorry, I have no desire to remarry. I have prayed for my life to look after my children. “

But Ibn Dhahhak still insisted. He continued to urge, while Fatima refused with fear. Ibn Dhahhak said threatening, “By Allah, if you do not want to be my wife, I will arrest your eldest son for allegedly drinking khamr.”

Fathimah bint Husein complained about the problem to Salim bin Abdillah. Salim advised him to write a letter of complaint to Amir al-mu’minin about his arbitrary governor. So that the problem can be solved in a family manner. Fatima followed the advice and immediately sent someone to Damascus.

Before the envoy left, incidentally at the same time, Amir al-mu’minin gave orders that Ibn Hurmuz, the treasurer of Medina, immediately come to Damascus to bring financial reports. Ibn Hurmuz immediately prepared the necessary reports, then stopped for a moment to say goodbye to Fathim bint bint Husein, “I want to go to the Dmaskus, did you leave anything?”

Fatima said, “Yes, please report to Amir al-mu’minin the difficulties that I have experienced as a result of his guardian, Ibn Dhahhak. Also say how he ignored the scholars, especially Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar bin Khathab. “

Ibn Hurmuz regretted that he stopped at Fatima’s house, because in fact he did not want to complain about Ibn Dhahhak to the Caliph in Damascus.

Ibn Hurmuz arrived in Damascus along with the day the messenger arrived carrying a complaint letter from Fatima bint Husein. In a meeting with the caliph, Ibn Hurmuz was asked about the conditions in Medina, also about Salim ibn Abdillah and other jurists. Yazid bin Abdul Malik asked, “Are there important things that you need to say or news that need to be discussed?” Ibn Hurmuz did not mention the story of Fatima bint Husein. His mouth was tightly locked about his guardian attitude to Salim bin Abdullah.

While he was still explaining the requested financial statements, the guards came in to report that the envoy Fatima binti Husein had asked for permission to face. Pale Ibn Hurmuz’s face in worry. He immediately said, “May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala gift Amirul Believers a long life. It is true that Fatima bint Husein also sent a message to me … “then she told me everything.

Hearing the narrative of Ibn Hurmuz, Amir al-mu’minin stood up from his seat and shouted angrily, “Woe! Did I not ask you how was the message of Medina? Do you hide that big incident from me? “Ibn Hurmuz immediately apologized and sought excuses.

Then, the envoy entered and submitted a letter to Fatima bint Husein. Amir al-mu’minin immediately opened and read it. His eyes. He shouted loudly, “Ibn Dhahhak has dared to disturb the Prophet’s family and ignored the advice of Salim bin Abdullah ?! Who can hear me the screams of governor Ibn Dhahak while he is tormented in Medina while I remain seated in Damascus? “

Among the audience said, “O believers, there is no one else in Medina except Abdul Wahid bin Bisyr an-Nadhari, raise him up. Currently he lives in Tha’if. “The Caliph said,” Right … for the sake of Allah … he is indeed worthy of this task. “So the caliph asked for paper and wrote the letter of appointment of the governor:

“From Amirul Mukminin, Yazid bin Abdul Malik to Abdul Wahid bin Bisyr an-Nadhari.

“With this letter I appointed you as governor in Medina. If this letter has arrived at you, then come to Medina and send Ibn Dhahhak down from his position. Order that he pay a fine of 40,000 dirhams, then punish him until I hear his shout from Medina. “

Departing the envoy who brought the letter to Thaif passed through Medina. When in Medina he did not live in Ibn Dhahhak’s place, not even greeting him. The governor became suspicious and worried about him. He sent someone to invite the envoy to his house. Then he asked about the reasons for the messenger’s arrival.

The envoy did not answer Ibn Dhahhak’s questions. Then Ibn Dhahhak took something behind his bed and said, “Look, this package contains a thousand golden dinars. I swear I will keep secret about what you brought and where you went. “

The money was handed over, then the messenger answered Ibn Dhahhak’s question. Furthermore Ibn Dhahhak said, “Wait here for only three days, I will go to Damascus for a while. Only after that can you continue your journey as instructed by you. “

Ibn Dhahhak rushed to prepare his vehicle, then immediately left Madinah for Damascus. When he arrived in Damascus, he went straight to the house of Yazid’s brother, Maslamah bin Abdul Malik. He is a good helper. When he was before him, Ibn Dhahhak said:

Ibn Dhahhak, “I am under your protection, O amir.”

Maslamah: “Hopefully it’s fine, what happened to you?”

Ibn Dhahhak: “Amir al-mu’minin was angry with me for the mistakes I made.”

Next Maslamah met Yazid bin Abdul Malik and said:

Maslamah: “I have an important need, O Amir al-mu’minin.”

Yazid: “All your needs will be full except for the problem of Ibn Dhahhak.”

Maslamah: “For God’s sake I have no need other than that.”

Yazid: “I can’t forgive him.”

Maslamah: “Actually, what mistake did he make?”

Yazid: “He disturbed Fatima bint Husein and threatened and pressed him. He also ignored the advice of Salim bin Abdullah about that. Poets, community leaders, scholars and residents of Medina criticized him.

Maslamah: “If that is the case, then it is up to you O Amir al-mu’minin.”

Yazid: “Now command Ibn Dhahhak to return to Medina. He must receive punishment from the new governor so that it becomes a lesson for other officials. “

Lamented the hearts of the residents of Medina, they were grateful for the appointment of a new governor and were happy with the execution of punishment for Ibn Dhahhak. They were satisfied because the new governor turned out to always apply well to the people and did not make decisions concerning interests but after asking for the approval of scholars such as Qasim bin Muhammad and Salim bin Abdillah.

How noble is the Muslim caliph Yazid bin Abdul Malik who has championed the Muslims and educated powerful officials for the glory of Islam

Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar bin Khathab, an Alim who practices his knowledge

The son of Umar bin Khathhab is many, but the one who most closely resembles him is Abdullah. Abdullah bin Umar also had many children, even more than his father’s children, and the most similar to Abdullah was Salim.

Let us continue the story of the life of Ibn Abdullah, al-Faruq’s grandson, Umar bin Khaththab, who is similar to his grandfather in the manifestation of his physical, moral, religious, and authority.

Salim lives in the city of Thaibah Madinah al-Munawarah. At that time the city was in a prosperous and rich condition. Sustenance and enjoyment abound and have never been witnessed like that before. Sustenance came from all directions, the Umayyad caliphs flooded with wealth that had never been imagined before.

But that did not make Salim enamored with assets like the others, nor did he love temporary and mortal beauties. On the contrary, he always adheres to what is in the hands of men to expect what is in the sight of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. He turned away from mortal things to reach lasting pleasure.

Countless times the Umayyad Caliph wanted to give a variety of pleasures to him and to others, but he still adhered to his zeal, not greed for what was in the hands of others and looked down on the world and its contents.

That year, Sultan Caliph visited Mecca for Hajj. At the time of performing the thawaf, he saw Salim bin Abdullah kneeling in front of the Ka’bah in a special manner. His tongue moves to read the Qur’an with tartil and solemn. While her tears melted on her cheeks. As if there were a sea of tears behind his eyes.

After the tawaf and the two rak’ah prayers, the caliph tried to approach Salim. People gave him a place, so he could sit on his knees until he touched Salim’s feet. But Salim ignored him because he was absorbed in his reading and dzikir.

Secretly the Caliph watched Salim while waiting for him to pause from his reading and crying. When there is an opportunity, the Caliph immediately greets,

Caliph: “Assalamu’alaika wa rahmatullah O Abu Umar.”

Salim: “Waasaikassalam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.”

Caliph: “Say what you need, O Abu Umar, I will fulfill it.”

Salim said nothing so the Caliph thought he did not hear his words. While close, the caliph repeated his request: “I want you to say your needs so that I can fulfill them.”

Salim: “By Allah, I am ashamed to say it. How is that possible, I am in His house, but asking for besides Him? “

The Caliph was quietly embarrassed, but he did not move from his seat. When the prayer was over, Salim got up to go home. People hunted him to ask about this and that hadith, and there were those who asked for fatwas about religious affairs, and there were those who asked to be prayed for. The Caliph of Solomon was among the crowd. Upon learning this, people pulled over to give him a way. The Caliph finally approached Salim, then said:

Caliph: “Now that we are outside the mosque, then say your needs so that I can help you.”

Salim: “From the needs of the world or the hereafter?”

Caliph: “Of course from the needs of the world.”

Salim: “I do not ask the world for those who have it (Allah), how do I ask those who are not the owners?”

The Caliph was ashamed to hear Salim’s words. He passed while muttering, “How glorious are you with zuhud and taqwa O descendants of al-Khathab, how rich you are with Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala bless you and your family. “

The previous year, al-Walid bin Abdul Malik also performed the Hajj. When the people had descended from Arafat, the caliph met Salim bin Abdullah in Muzdalifah. At that time Ibn Abdillah was wearing Ihram clothes.

Al-Walid said his greetings and prayers, the caliph looked at Salim’s open body, looking so healthy and muscular like a sturdy building.

Al-Walid: “The shape of your body is very good, O Abu Umar, what is your daily food?”

Salim: “Bread and Olives and sometimes meat if I get it.”

Al-Walid: “Only bread and olives?”

Salim: “Right.”

Al-Walid: “Are you having a taste for that?”

Salim: “If I happen to be not tasteful, then I leave until I’m hungry until I have a taste for him.”

Salim is not only similar to his grandfather, al-Faruq Umar bin Khaththab, in physical form and zealousness to the mortal world, but also in his courage to convey the correct sentence even though it is risky.

He once met Hajjaj bin Yusuf to talk about the needs of the Muslims. Hajjaj welcomed him well, was welcome to sit by his side and be respected excessively. Moments later a number of people were brought before Hajjaj, his clothes were tattered, his face was pale and all were in shackles. Hajjaj turned to Salim bin Abdullah and explained, “They are troublemakers on the face of the earth, justifying the blood that Allah has forbidden.”

He took the sword and handed it to Salim while giving a signal to the first person, he said to Salim: “Get up, and slash his neck!”

The sword was received by Salim, he approached the person in question. All eyes were facing him to see what he wanted to do. Salim stood in front of the person then asked,

Salim: “Are you Muslim?”

Prisoner: “Yes, I am Muslim. But what is the need for you to ask? Just do what you are told! “

Salim: “Are you praying at dawn?”

Prisoner: “I have already said that I am Muslim. Why do you ask if I pray at dawn? Is there a Muslim who doesn’t do morning prayer? “

Salim: “I ask, are you praying at dawn today?”

Prisoner: “May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala give guidance to you. I said, ‘Yes.’ Please do the wrongdoing, if not, surely he will be angry with you. ”

Salim bin Abdullah returned to Hajjaj. While throwing the sword in his hand he said, “This person claimed to be a Muslim and said that today he had prayed at dawn. I heard the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said,” Whoever prays, he is in the shade of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. “Then I will not kill someone who is in the protection of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.”

Hajjaj angrily heard it and said, “We will kill him not for leaving prayer, but because he helped kill the caliph Uthman bin Affan.” Salim said, “Even though there are more people who have the right to demand the blood of Uthman ibn Affan than you.” unable to speak.

Among those who witnessed the incident went to Medina and told him everything he had seen about Salim to his father, Abdullah bin Umar. Ibn Umar was impatient to hear the story of the person so he asked urgently, “Then what did Salim do?” The person explained, “He did this and that.”

How happy Abdullah bin Umar was. He said, “Good! Nice! Smart … smart …! “

When the Caliphate turned to the hands of Umar bin Abdul Aziz, the new Caliph immediately sent a letter to Salim bin Abdillah:

“Amma ba’du, I have received an exam from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala to take care of the problems of the people without being asked or discussed beforehand with me. So with this I begged the help of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala who had tested me so that I could help me. If this letter reaches you, I ask that you send me books about Umar bin Khaththab, his conduct and decisions as caliph. I would love to follow in his footsteps and walk along his path, may Allah preserve me for this. Greetings. “

After reading the letter, Salim bin Abdillah sent a reply letter:

“You have arrived at your letter stating that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala has tested you with the obligation to take care of the Muslims without you asking and without being discussed beforehand with you. And you want the path that Umar bin Khathth has passed. All you need to pay attention and remember always is that you did not live in the days of Umar bin Khaththab and were not accompanied by people like accompanying Umar bin Khaththab. But know, if you have the intention to do good and really want it, surely Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala will help you with the officials who accompany you. That will come beyond your calculations, because the help of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala to His servants is based on his intention. If the intention is reduced to goodness, then His help will be reduced. If your passions invite to something that is not blessed by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, remember what the rulers experienced before you.

So pay attention to how damaged their eyes are because it is only used to see pleasure, their stomach breaks because it is too full with lust. Imagine if their bodies were placed on the side of the house and not put into a hole. Surely we will be miserable because of the smell and disease caused by rottenness. Wassalamu’alaika warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. “

The life of Salim ibn Abdillah ibn Umar bin Khaththab was full of piety, familiar with the guidance, away from the pleasures of dunai and his temptations, treating them according to the path that Allah favored. He ate hard food and dressed in coarse material, joined the Muslim army to confront the Romans, and always tried to help solve the problems of the Muslims.

When death picked him up in the year 106 H, sorrow enveloped the city of Medina. Everyone came to take the body and watch the funeral. Including Hisham bin Abdul Malik who was then in Medina attending his funeral.

Amazed by the many seas of people who brought the body of Salim bin Abdullah, envy arose in his heart and muttered, “Later it will be proven how many people will attend the funeral when the Muslim caliph dies in their country.” Then he said, “Send four thousand young men to the border. “So that year was known as the year four thousand.

Islamic Hero – Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi, Hero of War at Balath Shuhada

An English poet, Southy, wrote about Islamic forces invading mainland Europe after taking control of Russia, he said:

“There are countless numbers of troops, some from the tribes of Barbarian, Roman, Persian, Qibti, Tartar, … all gathered under one banner, united by the great commander. His strength is strong, his enthusiasm stirs like fire and his brotherhood is amazing, does not discriminate between fellow humans.

In the soul of the Leader and the one who was led, there was a rounded determination to fight. They are optimistic about their invincible strength, and are sure that their forces will not find it difficult. Optimistic, that each step will be followed by victory. They continued to advance and advance until the Western world surrendered to the Eastern world, bowed to honor the name of Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam.

People from the poles that are full of frozen ice mountains come all the way to performing the Hajj. Crossing the Sahara with bare feet with faith, walking in the hot desert in Arabia, standing on the steep rocks of Mecca. “

Indeed, what you say is not far from reality. Your imagination is also not missed. Soldiers led by the Mujahideen did want to free your ancestors from the darkness of ignorance, as you mentioned.

Participating in these forces is the mighty Arabs. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala raised them and guided him to come to you from Sham, Hijaz, Nejd, Yemen and the corners of the Arabian Peninsula, rolling up everything like a storm. They were accompanied by Barbarians who were proud of their Islam, who descended from the Atlas mountains, sweeping like a flood. Also the Persians, who had escaped the shackles of the emperor’s paganism and entered into the religion of monotheism, a straight path. Not to forget the Romans, defectors in your opinion, indeed they defected from tyranny and darkness to the bright light of heaven and earth and received guidance towards a holy religion. Then the people of Qibti, who were free from slavery and shackles who strangled their necks, turned to an independent free life under the banner of Islam, returning to the sacred as when their mothers were born.

Exactly, indeed the forces led by Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi and the elders of Daang to release your ancestors from belenggu jahiliyah. Among them are white, black, Arabic, and Ajam (non-Arabic). But they are united in Islam. The pleasure of God makes them brothers. Their enthusiasm as you mentioned is putting Europeans into the religion of God as people in the Eastern Hemisphere and Africa. So that all humanity is subject to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, the creator of the universe.

With the light of Islam will illuminate your plains and valleys, the sun radiates in each of your homes and justice stands between your people and your rulers. They are determined to sacrifice their precious lives to guide you to the path of God and save you from hellfire.

Now, let us follow the end of the journey of the Islamic forces and their great commander, Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi.

The news of the death of Uthman bin Abi Nus’ah and the fate of his beautiful daughter, Minin, surprised Duke Octania. He realized that the war drums had been beaten. Sooner or later the Islamic lion, Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi will invade at any time, no matter day or night.

Emperor Duke Octania immediately prepared himself to defend every inch of his territory. It’s just that bad shadows always haunt him. He was worried that he would become a prisoner of the Muslims like his daughter who was now sent to Sham. He was afraid that his head would be beheaded and then put on the trays and paraded around the city like Loderik, king of Andaluisia.

Allegedly Duke Octania was right, suddenly Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi really came along with an extraordinarily large army, storming from Northern Spain like a tidal wave and descending into the South of France from the Pyrenees mountains like a flood. The soldiers reached 100,000 people and each battalion was accompanied by a large selection of large soldiers.

Islamic warriors entered through the city of Arles located on the banks of the Rhone river. The consideration is because the city is bound by a peace treaty with Muslims and has agreed to the obligation to pay jizyah. But apparently after the governor of as-Samah bin Malik al-Khaulani died in Toulouse and the Muslim forces weakened, they violated the agreement and refused to pay jizyah.

The arrival of Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi and his forces on the Azil border, was welcomed by a large force prepared by Duke Octania to hamper the advance of the Islamic forces. Two opposing powers. The big war is inevitable.

The first troops deployed by Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi were special forces who loved death more than the love of the enemy for life. They succeeded in destabilizing and finally destroying the enemy ranks. The battle continued to spread into the city. Swords flashed to the left and right. Islamic forces get the ghanimah results out of calculation.

But unfortunately, Duke Octania managed to escape from the field along with the remnants of his troops. So he still has the potential to get ready for the next battle, because he is aware that the battle in Arles was just the beginning of a long war.

Together with his troops, Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi crossed the Garonne river. They won victory for victory. One by one, the cities of Octania can be captured through their cavalry forces, such as leaves bearing the wind. Ghanimah has piled up to an amount that has never been encountered before.

Duke Octania tried to stem the Islamic forces for the second time by preparing for a major battle. But even this time the Muslims are able to overcome it. They beat and destroyed his army. Duke Octania again escaped leaving the soldiers in turmoil. Many were killed, not a few were captured and some were running away from the battlefield.

The next target of the attack was Bordeaux, the largest city in France at that time as well as the capital of Octania. The war to fight for Bordeaux is no less exciting than the wars that have been past. The defense system is certainly more robust. But with a tireless struggle, this big city can be captured by Muslim forces like other cities. The commanders of the enemy fall as friends who have overtaken them.

There are many treasures ghanimah obtained in this war. But more important is the fall of Bordeaux which is the key to opening other important French cities, such as Lyon, Besancon and Sens, so that the position of Islamic forces at that time was only a hundred miles away from Paris.

The European world was shocked to find that the South of France had surrendered to Abdurrahman. al-Ghafiqi in just a few months. The eyes of the Western world are open to the great danger facing them.

Suggestions for participation echoed throughout Europe. Everyone, capable or not, is expected to participate in stemming the heavy East flow. If you are unable to stem with a sword, you should hold it with your chest. If the weapon runs out, the road should be closed with their bodies. Europe rose to welcome the call. People came from all directions carrying everything that could be used, stones, wood, thorns and swords. They united under the command of Karel Martel.

At the same time Islamic warriors arrived in Tours, a French city that was densely populated and kept beautiful old buildings. The city is proud of its magnificent churches that are the most beautiful in all of Europe and contain full of priceless wealth.

Islamic warriors surrounded the circle like a horse’s bridle wrapped around the horse’s neck. They are ready to sacrifice their lives to take this city. And indeed, Tours fell before the eyes and hearing of Karel Martel.

End of the month Sya’ban 104 H Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi along with his mighty troops entered the city of Poitiers. They were welcomed by a large European force led by Karel Martel. The great war between the two forces was not only recorded in the history of Islam and the West, but also in the history of mankind. The battle was known by the name, “Balath Shuhada,” because of the many Islamic soldiers who were martyred.

At that time the Islamic forces were truly in the glorious peak of glory. But unfortunately, their backs are too heavy to bear the abundant results of the ghanimah. Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi witnessed it with a sad and worried heart. He worried about the condition of the troops. How can you calm down while the hearts and minds of the soldiers begin to switch to those possessions? In decisive moments their souls are divided, one eye looks at the enemy and the other one glances at the treasures of Ghanimah.

Abdurrahman was eager to encourage his troops to break away from the ghanimah which was piled up. But he doubted whether they could accept the decision happily. So there was no other way except that he had to collect all the ghanimah in the tents which were functioned as warehouses. Then it was put behind the base before the war broke out.

Two forces of equal size take the opposite position. Some days the atmosphere feels tense. Silent and full of inquiry, like two big mountains. Each measures the strength of your opponent and thinks a thousand times to choose the right time to attack.

Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi began to break through the Western defenses with his army like a lion that struck ferociously. The West survives like a strong fortress. A battle raged all day and there were no signs of victory on either side. Had it not been blocked by the darkness of the night, surely they would not have stopped fighting.

Entering the second day, the battle flared up again. Islamic soldiers attacked bravely and strong determination, but the Western defense was not yet deterred.

The war lasted for seven consecutive days violently. On the eighth day, little by little the enemy ranks began to tear apart. Winning hopes began to appear. Like a dawn of light in the morning. But at the same time, a group of Western warriors attacked the storage area of the Ghanimah treasure and controlled it almost entirely easily. Seeing this, the Islamic forces began to falter. Most of them retreated backwards to save the treasure of the ghanimah to damage the front row defense.

The Commander-in-Chief Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi persistently tried to prevent his soldiers from receding backwards, while continuing to hold back the flow of attacks from the front and cover the weak gaps. He moves quickly here and there with his mighty horse. At that moment an arrow hit his body so he fell from a horse like an eagle that fell from the top of a mountain. Then the martyrdom was manifested in the coveted battlefield.

As for the Islamic forces, seeing the commander’s death, they are increasingly in disarray, while the enemy is increasingly eager to push forward. Nobody was able to stop their ferocity other than the night that began to creep.

In the morning Karel Martel found that Islamic forces had withdrawn from the battlefield of Pioitiers. But he did not dare to pursue. Even if he pursued him, he would surely succeed in destroying the Muslims. He thought that the retreat of the Islamic forces was intentional to lure them out of the open field. He thought it was a new Muslim strategy planned the night before. So Karel Martel chose to stay in place and feel enough to stem the forces that endanger it, then enjoy the victory he achieved.

Balath Shuhada has become a monumental event in history. On that day the Muslims had wasted a golden opportunity that was wide open, and even lost a great leader and formidable hero named Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi. The event was like a heartbreaking tragedy of Uhud.

Thus, everything has become the sunnatullah of His servants, no one has the power to change or replace it.

The news of the defeat at Balath Shuhada was a slap that shook the Muslims in all corners. Grief and sorrow struck every village and city, entering every Islamic house. The wound is still painful, and will still be remembered while there is still a Muslim on the surface of this earth. But, don’t you think the tragedy is just sad for the Muslims. Westerners who have common sense also feel that way. For them, the victory of their ancestors over the Muslims in Poititers was a big disaster for humankind, especially harming Europe in achieving progress.

As proof of this group’s opinion, let us consider the commentary on the defeat of the Muslims at Balath Shuhada, by the editor in chief of the “Parliamentary Review” magazine Henry de Syambon, “If not for Karel Martel’s victory over the Islamic forces in France, of course our country no need to sink into the darkness of ignorance in medieval times. It won’t be that bad. And we also do not need to experience a massive massacre based on the fanaticism of religious sects. True, had it not been for the Western victory at that time, Spain would have been able to live in pure Islamic wisdom, survive the cruelty of intelligence agencies and not be late in receiving the flow of progress for eight centuries. Although there are differences in taste and views about the victory, what is clear is that we are truly indebted to the Muslims for the progress of the noble science, art and culture that they carry. We must recognize that Muslims are perfect examples of humanity when we were still ferocious Barbarian humans. “

Tabi’in: Rufai bin Mihran, Abu al-Aliyah

Rufai bin Mihraan, nicknamed Abu al-Aliyah, included clerics among Muslim clerics, figures among memorizing figures of the Qur’an and Muhadditsin (hadith experts). He included tabi’in who knew the most about the Kitabullah, most understood the hadith of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, at most the level of his understanding of the Koran al-Aziz and most deeply understood the intentions and secrets contained in it. So let us trace the history of his life from the beginning.

His life history is full of exemplary attitudes and glory, abundant with valuable advice and lessons.

Rufai bin Mihraan was born in Persia. In that country he also grew up. When the Muslims entered the country of Persia to expel the population from darkness to light. Rufai was one of the young men who fell into the hands of loving Muslims, then was taken to their laps which were full of goodness and glory.

Then a few moments he and others who pay attention to the nobleness of Islam, then compare with what they profess as idol worshipers, finally they enter the religion of Allah in droves. Then they began to study the Book of Allah, they were thirsty for the traditions of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam.

Rufai tells about what he experienced:

I and some of my people became captives of the Mujahideen, then we became slaves to a group of Muslims in Basrah. Soon afterwards we finally believed in Allah and were interested in memorizing the Book of Allah. Among us there was someone who redeemed himself to his employer and there was someone who remained devoted to his employer. I am one of them. At first we recited the Qur’an every night, but it was very burdensome for us. Then we agreed to keep the two nights closed, but it still felt hard for us. Then we agreed to recite the Qur’an every three days, but we still felt it was hard because we had to work a lot during the day and stay up late at night.

Then we met some of the companions of the Prophet sallallaahu aih alaihi wa sallam and complained about our situation which had to stay up last night to recite the Kitabullah. They said, “Take care of every Friday.” So we did what they suggested. We read the Koran on a part of the night and could sleep part of the night and after that we did not feel objections.

Rufai bin Mihraan is owned by a female employer from Bani Tamim. He is a steadfast, intelligent, and respectable employer and his soul is full of piety and faith. Rufai helped in part of the afternoon and rested for another part of the afternoon. He uses his free time to read and write. He used it to deepen religious knowledge without the slightest disruption of his duties.

One Friday, Rufai ’made his ablution and enlarged his wudh and then asked his employer’s permission to leave. His employer said, “Where are you going, O Rufai? Rufai replied, “I want to go to the mosque.” The employer asked, “Which mosque do you mean?” He replied, “Jami Mosque” “His employer said,” Then let’s go with me. “So the two went to the mosque and entered the mosque like the others . But Rufai did not understand the purpose of his employer.

When the Muslims had gathered, Rufai’s employer spoke up, “Witness O Muslims, in fact I have freed my slave (Rufai) for expecting God’s reward, asking for His forgiveness and pleasure. And that it is not worthy for someone to take a way but a good way. “Then he turned to Rufai and prayed to Allah:

“O God, I made it as a saving in Your side on a day when there was no benefit to wealth and children.”

When finished praying, Rufai had walked alone while his employer had walked on his own.

Since that day Rufai bin Mihraan often went back and forth to Madinah al-Munawarah. He had met ash-Siddiq radhiyallahu ‘anhu shortly before his death. He was also lucky to be able to meet the emir of the believers (Umar bin Khaththab), study the Koran to him and pray behind him.

In addition to struggling with the Kitabullah, Rufai whose nickname is Abu al-Aliyah is also familiar with the traditions of the Prophet. So he tried to listen to the hadith history of the tabi’in whom he met in Basrah. But a strong desire in his soul will appear to be more than that. So often he took the time to go to Medina to hear the hadith directly from the companions of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, so that there was no limit between himself and the Prophet sallallaahu‘ alaihi wa sallam but one person or two people.

He narrated the hadith from Abdullah bin Mas’ud, Ubai bin Ka’ab, Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, Abu Hurairah, Abdullah bin Abbas and other friends.

Abu al-Aliyah is not only enough to take hadith in Medina al-Munawarah. But he did not hesitate to hunt down the hadith of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam wherever he was. If it is said to him there is someone who has knowledge, then he pulls the bridle of the vehicle even though it is far away, even though it takes a long time. If he arrived, he prayed behind the intended person. If he gets the prayer not really and is inconsistent with the sunah, he does not pay attention to the rights of prayer, then he turns away while muttering, “Surely the person who underestimates prayer is certainly for matters that are otherwise more disparaging. Then he took his provisions and returned home.

Abu al-Aliyah achieved achievements in science soared far from all his peers. One of his friends said, “I saw Abu al-Aliyah ablution, water dripping from his face and hands, he did thaharah on the limbs as he should. I greet him and say. “Indeed, Allah loves those who repent and like thaharah.” Then he said, “O my brother, what is meant (the verse) is not people who do thaharah with dirty water, but they are thaharah with fear of sin.” what he said, then I got that he was the right one while I was wrong. Then I said, “May God reward you with kindness and add knowledge and understanding to you.”

Abu al-Aliyah used to encourage people to be enthusiastic in seeking knowledge, and show them the way to reach it. He said, “Busy yourself to study and multiply to ask about it. Know that knowledge will not perish for those who are ashamed (in terms of knowledge) and arrogant people. A person who is shy does not want to ask because of shame, an arrogant person does not ask because of his arrogance. “

He also encouraged his students to study the Koran, take care of it and hold fast to what was contained in it and turn away from all the things bid’ah that was being invoked. He said, “Study the Koran, if you learn it, then don’t deviate from it, take the right path, that is Islam. Stay away from you lust and bid’ah, because he will arouse animosity and hatred among you. Do not discard the things that have been taken by the companions of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam before they split.”

The words were delivered to Hasan al-Basri and he commented, “By Allah Abu al-Aliyah really advised you correctly.”

In addition, he also guided his santri how to memorize the Koran, he said, “Study the Qur’an five verses, five verses, because it is easier for you to remember and more likely for you to understand. Because Gabriel reduced the Qur’an to the Prophet sallallaahu aih alaihi wa sallam five verses-five verses. “

Abu al-Aliyah is not just a teacher but also an educator. Because he fills the brains of his students with useful knowledge, nourishes their hearts with good advice, often collects two things in his advice. Among them is his advice to them:

“Verily Allah has decreed for Himself, that whosoever believes in Him Allah will give him guidance. The argument is the word of Allah Ta’ala:

“And whoever believes in Allah, surely He will give guidance to his heart.” (Surah At-Thaghabun: 11)

And God decreed that those who put their trust in Him would surely suffice. The argument is the word of Allah Ta’ala:

“And whoever put his trust in Allah surely Allah will fulfill (his need).” (QS. Ath-Thalaq: 3)

And Allah will determine whoever lends to Allah, Allah will replace it. The argument is the word of Allah Ta’ala:

“Who wants to give a loan to God, a good loan (spend his wealth in the way of Allah), then Allah will multiply the payment to him by multiplying a lot.” (QS. Al-Baqarah: 245)

And whoever prays to Him surely Allah will grant it. The argument is the word of Allah Ta’ala:

“And when my servants ask you about me, then (answer) that I am near. I grant the request of the person who prays when he pleads with me. “(QS. Al-Baqarah: 186)

He also advised his students:

“Reside with obedience, and accept those who are obedient because of their obedience to God. Stay away from immorality and enemies the perpetrators of immorality because of the immorality he did. Then hand over the business of the person who has the accusation to God, if Allah wills, he will be admonished and if He wills it will be forgiven. If you hear there is someone who is noble in his soul then say, “Indeed, I love for seeking the pleasure of Allah and turning away from this because of fear of Allah”, then you are beyond borders. “

Abu al-Aiyah is not just an amilun cleric, nor is he merely a counselor and guide, but also a mujahid fii sabilillah. He took the time to plunge into the fields of jihad with the mujahidin, or ribath (just in case) the arrival of enemies on the border with the murabithun. He preferred jihad against the Romans in Sham and also Persia, the country across the Jihun river. He was the first time a call to prayer in these countries.

When there was a war between Ali and Mu’awiyah, he had an attitude, he told me:

“When there was a war between Ali and Mu’awiyah, I was a passionate person. The war I preferred was more than cold water in the dry season. So I prepared the equipment and went to them. It turned out that in front of me had stood two rows of troops facing the invisible end. If one line chants takbir, the other lines shout out takbir. If one shouted La ilaaha Illallah, the other group shouted La ilaaha Illallah. Then I asked myself: “Which of the two groups of troops do I consider infidels and will I fight? Which do I consider believers so that I will strive with him? Then I leave both of them and leave. “

Abu al-Aliyah throughout his life still felt disappointed, because he did not meet the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. So he replaced it by approaching the main friends, who were closely related to Muhammad the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. He prioritized them over him while they prioritized him over themselves.

As proof is when Anas – the assistant of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam gave an apple present in his hand to him. Then he took it and kissed it and said, “The apple that has been touched by the hand that once touched the hand of the Prophet, the apple that has been touched by the hand that has been honored for ever touching the hand of the Prophet.”

Another example, when Abu al-Aliyah met Abdullah bin Abbas who was then governor of Basrah under the rule of Ali bin Abi Talib. Abdullah bin Abbas welcomed him very well, he sat on his bed and sat on his right side. At that time the Majlis was attended by Quraysh officials. They glanced at each other and whispered among themselves: “Don’t you see how Ibn Abbas seated the slave on his bed?” Ibn Abbas who saw their signs turned towards them and said, “Indeed, the knowledge adds glory to the noble, and elevates the degree of its owner in the midst of men and sit the kings like captives. “

One year, Abu al-Aliyah was determined to go to jihad fii sabilillah. So he prepared his supplies and tied him on his vehicle with the mujahidin. At dawn, there was a severe wound on one of his feet. Then the pain increases gradually. When a physician looked at him, he said: “This is famous aklah.” He asked, “Is that aklah?” The physician said, “That is a disease that will kill cells and propagate little by little until it hits the whole body. his agreement to cut his legs to half a calf, then he agreed.

So the physician prepared amputation equipment, a knife to cut meat and saws to cut bones. Then the physician said, “Will you take an anesthetic so that you don’t feel pain when you cut and cut off his legs?” He replied, “But there is something better for me than that.” The physician asked, “What is that?” reciter ‘who reads the Book of Allah, ask him to read to me verses that are easy and clear. If you see my face has turned red, my eyes are pointing towards the sky, then do as you please. “So they carried out the request and they cut off his legs.

When the amputation was finished, the physician said to Abu al-Aliyah, “As if you do not feel pain when amputated.” Then he held his foot with his hand and he looked at him and said, “If I meet my Rabb on the Day of Judgment and ask if I have walked with you (the leg that has been cut) to an unclean place for 40 years or me have you walked in a place that is not allowed? Surely I will answer, ‘Never’ and I am honest with my words, God willing. “

After that, because of the piety of Abu al-Aliyah and because he felt close to the Day of Judgment and his preparation to meet his Rabb, he had prepared a shroud for him. He used the shroud once a month then he returned it to its place. He has had his heart 17 times even though he is still healthy and fresh. He gives limits to each testament. If the time limit has expired he sees it again, maybe he replaces it or resigns it.

In Shawwal in the year 93 AH Abu al-Aliyah departed to meet his Rabb by bringing his holy heart, convinced by God’s grace and longing to meet his Prophet.

The Story of Islamic Leaders – Ahnaf bin Qais, Leader of Banu Tamim

At that time, the city of Damascus was smiling sweetly welcoming the arrival of spring. Proud of the fertility of the land and its beautiful gardens.

That day Amir al-mu’minin Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan was preparing to receive envoys in the palace. When the first opportunity was opened, Umul Hakam bint Abi Sufyan immediately took his seat behind the veil. From there he could hear the talks in his brother’s assembly about the traditions of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. He filled himself with everything he heard from the chancellor, reports on various things, strange news, beautiful verses or noble lessons.

This noble princess is very intelligent eager to reach the height of dignity. While his brother accepts people who are facing based on his position. Friends of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam always took precedence over others, only then followed the figures of tabi’in, the scholars and the nobility.

Unusually, Umul Hakam found that his brother’s first guest brought a rather tense atmosphere and was thrilling. He heard his brother say, “By Allah, O Ahnaf, every time I remember the Shiffin war and how you side with Ali bin Abi Talib then leave us, the resentment in my heart will not be cured.”

The opponent’s speech was no less decisive. “By Allah, O Mua’awiyah, hatred is still attached to our hearts and the swords we use against you are still in the hands. If you go one step we will advance ten steps, if you go forward, then we will go forward. For God’s sake, we are not here to beg from you or because you are snapping your wrath. We came here to strengthen the broken relationships between us, to unite opinions and unite the Muslims. “After that the guest excused himself.

Curiosity appeared in the minds of Ummah Hakam. The closing veil is revealed to see who is being rude to the caliph. Apparently he was a small man, his head was bald, his chin tilted, his eyes were sunken and his legs were bent inward. There is no shortage of bodies that humans have but he gets his share.

Umul Hakam turned to his brother and said, “O Amirul Mukminin, who is that person? Dare to really threaten the caliph in his house. “Mu’awiyah sighed and said,” So, if he is angry, surely a hundred thousand residents of Banu Tamim will be angry without knowing why. He is Ahnaf bin Qais, leader of Banu Tamim and hero of the Arabs. ‘

Let’s explore the story of Ahnaf bin Qais from the beginning.

The third year before the Hijriyah, Qais bin Muawiyah as-Sa’di received the gift of a baby boy. He was given the name adh-Dhahhak, but people called him Ahnaf because his legs were bent (like the letter X), a nickname that was more fitting than his own name. So that the nickname seems to have become his name.

Ahnaf’s father named Qais was not a leader of his people, nor of a low class. Their position is mid. Ahnaf was born in the west of Yamamah, precisely in the Najd area. Little Ahnaf grew up as an orphan because his father was killed when he was very young. Islamic light shone on the boy’s heart since he hadn’t grown his mustache.

The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam once sent several friends to the Ahnaf bin Qais a few years before his death to call them to Islam. They met the leaders of the people while giving encouragement to faith and offering Islam

The people were silent for a moment to hear the invitation of the friends. They looked at each other when suddenly the young Ahnaf who was present raised his voice: “O my brothers, why do you have to doubt? For the sake of Allah the messenger who came to you is the best messenger. They invite the noble character and forbid from the reproach. For Allah’s sake, there is nothing we see from them other than kindness, so welcome the call of this guidance, surely you will be happy in the world and the hereafter. “

Finally the people embraced Islam simultaneously with Ahnaf. Then they sent messengers to the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, but Ahnaf was not included because he was still too young. So he did not get the honor of being a friend. However, he was not deterred from finding the pleasure of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam and his prayer to him.

Ahnaf told his story, “Once during the reign of Umar bin Khathab, I was carrying out a thawaf in Baitul Atiq (Ka’bah) and met someone I already knew. He held my hand as he said, “Will I give you good news?” I said, “Yes of course.” He said, “Do you remember when I was sent by the Prophet sallallaahu‘ alaihi wa sallam to call your people to Islam? I persuade them and offer Islam, then you say something to them? “I replied,” Yes, I remember. “He continued,” Upon my arrival to the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam and tell me about what you said, he prayed, ” O Allah, give your forgiveness to Ahnaf. “

So Ahnaf said, “None of my deeds that I hope can be more beneficial on the Day of Judgment except the prayer of the Prophet sallallaahu‘ alaihi wa sallam. “

After the death of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, a false prophet, Musailamah al-Kadzab appeared, who misled others by his iniquity. So many people who fall away because of it. Together with his uncle Mutasyamas, Ahnaf came to seek clarification about it. At that time Ahnaf was in his teens.

On the way home the uncle asked Ahnaf, “What do you think about that person?” Ahnaf said, “I see he is a big liar to God and humans.” His uncle said jokingly, “You are not afraid if I report to him?”

Ahnaf said, “Then I will swear to my uncle in front of him, then do you dare to swear that you do not deny him as I am?” They both laughed and remained in Islam.

Maybe you are surprised and amazed at Ahnaf’s firmness in addressing big things, even though he is still young.

But it may be that your astonishment at his hard temper will fade when you know that this young Bani Tamim is a keen analyst, intelligent in his brain, right in his eyes, and pure in his soul.

That is because since childhood he used to sit together with the leaders of his people, participate in their assemblies, attend gatherings and diligently study to the scholars and their characters.

He told his story: “We often go to the assembly of Qais bin Asim al-Minqari to learn about the goodness of life as well as the scholars to study religion.”

When he asked, “What did you get from Qais about wisdom?”

Ahnaf replied, “One time I found him sitting cross-legged in the front room of his house, he was chatting with some of his people. Shortly afterwards there was a fuss outside. Next some people entered carrying two young men, one in a state of bondage and one with no life. Someone reported: “Your niece has killed your son the fulan.”

For God’s sake, at that time Qais bin Asim did not leave his seat or stop talking. Then he turned to his nephew and said, “O son of my brother, you killed your uncle’s son. That means you have cut off your own kinship with your hand, you throw yourself with your arrow. “

He said to his other children, “Stand up, and let go of the bonds of your uncle’s son. After that your brother’s earthiness and send one hundred camels to the mother of this child as diyat because she is from another family. “Then he said to his nephew:” Come and bury his body! “

Ahnaf bin Qais also got a golden opportunity to study with the Companions, especially to al-Faruq Umar bin Khaththab. He attended the assemblies of Umar, listening to his advice and also studying various laws and crimes. He included Umar’s students who succeeded and were very colored by the character of the teacher.

He has been asked where to get authority and wisdom. He replied, “From the sentences I heard from Amir al-mu’minin Umar bin Khathab who said,

Whoever jokes a lot will lose his authority

Whoever exaggerates in any case, he will be known by his habits.

Whoever talks a lot, many mistakes.

Whoever has a lot of mistakes, diminishes his shame

Whoever diminishes his shame also decreases the nature of his character

And whoever has a little character then dies his heart.

Ahnaf has an honorable position in the eyes of its people. Although he did not have a high position, neither was his mother’s father, who was named by his people. Many times people asked him about his secret, among them asking, “How do your people think of you as the leader O Abu Bahr?” He replied, “Whoever has four things, he will be able to lead his people and will not be hindered from getting that position. “The person asked,” What are the four things? “He replied,” Religion is its shield, the glory that keeps it, the mind that guides it, and the shame that controls it. “

Ahnaf bin Qais is one of the brightest figures in Arabic, so the nature of the attack is made as an example. One time Amru bin Ahtam once manipulated someone to berate Ahnaf with painful words, but the one who was cursed just fell silent and bowed his head. Seeing the chided one ignoring him, the person bit his finger and muttered, “Woe to me! For God’s sake he doesn’t want to care because I’m looked down on by him! “

When he almost reached the territory of his people, he turned to the man then said, “O son of my brother, if in your heart there are still hindrances against me, luck will be thrown here all, because if any of my people hear your cursing, surely they will attack you. “

Ahnaf also includes people who persevere in worship, fasting and zuhud with what others have. When a glorious night is dark, he turns on the lantern and puts it on his side. After that, he began to pray in his mihrab, standing trembling like a sick person crying for fear of adzab and the wrath of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

Every time he remembered his sins or disabilities and reproach, he put his finger on the fire saying, “O Ahnaf, feel this, what made you do that on that day and then! Woe to you, Ahnaf! If you can’t stand the heat of the flame of this lantern and can’t be patient, how can you stand the heat of hell fire and be patient with the pain ?! O Allah, if you give me the maghfirah, indeed you are entitled to it, if you torment me, indeed it is worthy of me and you are the one who has power over it. “

May God bless Ahnaf, because he is a role model in every age and a special example for humans.

Tabiin: Ahnaf bin Qais, Studying with Umar al-Faruq

We entered the early period of khilafah Umar bin Khaththab. The moment when the heroes and figures of Ahnaf bin Qais, namely Banu Tamim, competed to spur their mighty horses with their drawn swords glittering. From his houses in Ahsa and Najd they went out to Basra, to join the Muslim forces who had gathered there, under the leadership of Utbah bin Ghazwan. They want to confront Persia, jihad fi sabilillah and expect mardhatillah. In their midst was a young man named Ahnaf bin Qais.

One day Utbah bin Ghazwan received a letter from the emir of the Faithful Umar bin Khathab asking that ten of the main soldiers of his army be sent who had contributed to the war. Amir al-mu’minin wants to know about Islamic forces and wants to ask for their consideration.

The order was immediately carried out by Utbah. He sent ten of his best soldiers to Amir al-mu’minin in Medina, including Ahnaf bin Qais. Then they went to Medina.

On arrival the envoys were welcomed by Amir al-mu’minin and were welcome to sit in his assembly. They were asked about their needs and the needs of all the people. They said, “About the needs of the people in general you know better because you are a leader. Then we only speak on our own personal behalf. “Then each of them asked for his needs.

Incidentally Ahnaf bin Qais had the last chance to speak because there were the youngest of them. He praised Allah and flattered Him, then said, “O Amir al-mu’minin, actually the army of the Muslims who were sent to Egypt, they lived in a verdant fertile area and a luxurious place inherited from Pharaoh. While the troops sent were luxurious relics of Pharaoh. While the troops sent to the land of Sham, they lived in a comfortable place, lots of fruits and gardens like a palace. As for the troops sent to Persia, they lived around the river which overflowed with fresh water, as well as fruit gardens left by the emperors.

But our people who were sent to Basrah, they lived in a dry and barren place, not fertile land nor growing fruit. One of the edges of the salty sea, the other edge is just a barren stretch. So pay attention to their distress, O Ameer the Faithful, improve their lives and command your governor in Basra to make the river have fresh water that can feed livestock and trees. Improve their condition and their families, lighten their suffering, because they make it a means for jihad fiabil sabililah. “

Umar was amazed to hear his statement, then asked another envoy, “Why don’t you do what he did? Indeed he (Ahnaf) – for Allah – is a leader. “Then Umar prepared their supplies and prepared supplies for Ahnaf. But the Ahnaf said, “By Allah O Amir al-mu’minin, we have not gone far to meet you and hit the camel’s stomach for days to get supplies. I have no need other than the needs of my people as I have told you. If you grant it, that is enough for you. “Umar’s amazement grew and he said,” This young man is the leader of the people of Basrah. “

After the assembly was over and the envoys went to the place of stay that had been provided. Umar bin Khathab cast his views on their belongings. From one of the bundles wrapped up a piece of clothing. Umar touched it while asking, “Whose is this?”

Ahnaf replied, “Belongs to me, O Amirul the Faithful,” and at once he felt that Umar considered the item too luxurious and expensive. Umar asked, “What is the price of this shirt when you bought it?” Ahnaf said, “Eight dirhams.” Ahnaf never found himself lying except this time. He bought the clothes for twelve dirhams.

Umar looked at him with a look of affection. He smoothly said, “I think for you just one piece, the excess assets that you have should you use to help other Muslims.” Umar said to all. “Take for those of you who are needed and use the excess of your treasure in its place so that you lightly burden and get a lot of reward.” Ahnaf bowed shyly to hear it and he could not say anything.

Then Amir al-mu’minin gave permission to the envoys to return to Basrah. But Ahnaf was not allowed to return with them, he was asked to stay with Umar for a full year.

Umar Radhiyallahu ‘anhu observed that the young Bani Tamim had more intelligence, were fluent in speech, were of great spirit, were high spirited, and rich in knowledge. Therefore Amir al-mu’minin intends to develop it so that it becomes a useful Muslim cadre by learning a lot to the friends and following in their footsteps in pursuing the religion of Allah. He also intends to examine deeper about the personality of the Ahnaf before giving him social duties. Because Umar was most worried about people who were skilled and skillful in speaking. Such people, if good, can fill the world, and if they are damaged, their intelligence will be disastrous for humans.

A year had been Ahnaf with Umar, then Umar said, “O Ahnaf, I have tested you, it turns out that what I found in you is only good. I see your body is good, so I hope your mind will be like that. “

Then he sent Ahnaf to lead troops to Persia. He advised the commander, Abu Musa al-Asy’ari: “Then join Ahnaf as a companion, invite him to consult in all matters and pay attention to his proposals.”

Join Ahnaf under the banner of Islam and invade eastern Persia. He was able to prove his heroism. His name is more famous and his achievements are getting brighter. He and his people, Bani Tamim, contributed to conquering the enemy with great sacrifice. Many cities and regions are controlled, including the city of Tustur and captivating their leader, Hurmuzan.

He was the strongest and hardest Persian leader and had tricks that were skilled in war. The victory of the Muslims this time succeeded in forcing him to surrender. Many times he betrayed the peace agreement with Muslims and thought he could do it constantly and felt he could win the Muslims.

When he was pushed in one of his strongholds in Tustur, he still said, “I have a hundred arrows. And for the sake of Allah, you can’t catch me before you finish the arrows. Even though you know that my shot never misses, you can’t catch me before a hundred of you are killed. “

Islamic forces asked, “What do you want?” Hurmuzan replied, “I want to be tried under the law of Umar bin Khaththab. Only he can punish me. “They said,” Alright. We agree.”

He also put his arrow to the ground and surrendered to the Muslims. The Muslim forces bound him then sent him to Medina in strict guard and the war heroes under the leadership of Anas bin Malik, aides of the Prophet sallallaahu aih alaihi wa sallam and also Ahnaf bin Qais, students and cadres of Umar bin Khaththab.

The group accelerated the road to Medina. All hope that Amir al-mu’minin will be satisfied with the victory. They brought wealth for the Baitul Maal, which is one fifth of the proceeds of Ghanimah. Also not less important is that Hurmuzan who always betrayed the promise could be punished by the caliph in proportion to his crime.

Arriving at the outskirts of Medina, they told Hurmuzan to wear his oversized clothes made of expensive silk studded with gold gems. On his head was a crown full of diamonds that were expensive.

As soon as they entered the city of Yatsrib, large and small, old or young, crowded people watching the captives dressed in luxury were amazed. He was immediately taken to the house of Amir al-mu’minin Umar bin Khaththab, but he was not home. Someone said, “He went to the mosque to welcome guests who came to visit.”

The group walked towards the mosque, but it was not visible inside. Meanwhile, more and more people gathered. When they were still busy searching, the children who were playing there asked: “Are you going back and forth to look for Amir al-mu’minin Umar?” They said, “Right, where is he?” The boy replied, “He fell asleep on the right side of the mosque with its turban resting. “

Indeed, Amir al-mu’minin departed from his house to meet the envoys of Kufa. But after they returned home, he felt sleepy so he slept beside the mosque.

Hurmuzan is herded to the side of the mosque. They found Amir al-mu’minin sleeping soundly. They sat down waiting until he woke up from his sleep.

Hurmuzan doesn’t understand Arabic, doesn’t know what people are talking about, so he doesn’t expect that Amir al-mu’minin to sleep in front of him. Indeed, he had heard of the simplicity and injustice of Umar bin Khaththab, but he did not think that the person was sleeping. People who conquered Rome and other kings, slept without pillows without bodyguards. Seeing people sitting with him, he thought they were preparing to pray and wait for the Caliph.

Ahnaf instructs people to calm down so as not to awaken the caliph from his sleep, because as long as his knowledge in accompanying Umar radhiyallahu ‘anhu, the caliph never sleeps at night. He always stood in prayer at his mihrab, or disguised as a patrol around Madinah to investigate matters concerning his people or guard his houses from the crime of thieves.

Then when Hurmuzan saw Ahnaf’s signal to the people, he turned to Mughirah bin Syu’bah who could speak Persian. He asked, “Who is the one who sleeps?” Mughirah replied, “He is Amirul Mukminin Umar bin Khaththab.”

How surprised Hurmuzan was, then he said, “Umar? Then where are the guards and bodyguards? “Mughirah replied,” He has no bodyguards or guards. “He said,” Then he is a prophet. “Mughirah said,” No, there are no prophets after Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam was just acting the behavior is like a prophet. “

People are getting crowded and the voices that are generated are getting louder. Umar Radhiyallahu hu Anhu woke up from his sleep and was surprised to see people crowded around. He also saw someone wearing oversized clothes, with a crown on his head and a stick studded with beautiful gems in his hand. Umar turned to look at Ahnaf’s face then said, “Is it Hurmuzan.” Ahnaf answered, “Right, O Amirul Mukminin.”

Umar again observed the sparkling silk and clothing worn by the Persian leader then turned away while muttering, “I take refuge in Allah from the fire of hell and from this world. Blessed be God who has subjected this person and such people to Islam. “

Then he said, “O Muslims. Hold on to this religion and follow the instructions of your wise Prophet. Never be fascinated by the world, because the world is tempting. “

Furthermore, Ahnaf bin Qais expressed the good news about his victory. Ahnaf said, “O Amir al-mu’minin, Hurmuzan has surrendered to us on condition that he will accept your provisions on his director. Please speak to yourself if you wish. “

Umar said, “I did not want to talk to him before you took off the clothes of grandeur and arrogance.” They also stripped all the luxuries that Hurmuzan used and then gave him a robe to cover his nakedness. After that Umar met him and said, “What is the result of betrayal and breaking your promise?”

With a disdainful bow, Hurmuzan replied, “O Umar, in the time of ignorance when there is no Rabb between you and us, we always win over you. But once you embrace Islam, God is with you so we lose. You win over us because of that, but also because you are united while we are divorced. “

Umar glared at Hurmuzan and said in a stern tone, “What caused you to break your promise, Hurmuzan?” He said, “I’m afraid you killed me before I answered him.” Umar replied, “No, before you answer.” the answer, then he said, “I’m thirsty.”

Even though immediately ordered to take drinking water, then someone offered water in a thick container. Seeing that, Hurmuzan said, “Until it dies, really I can’t drink from a container like this. ‘

Umar told his officers to get water with the container he liked. Hurmuzan received it with trembling hands. Umar asked, “What’s wrong with you?” He replied, “I am afraid of being killed while drinking this water.” Umar said, “You will be safe until you finish drinking this water.” But Hurmuzan poured the water directly on the ground.

Umar said, “Bring more water and don’t kill you in thirst!” Hurmuzan said, “I don’t need water, I just need security for me.” Umar said, “I will kill you!” Hurmuzan replied, “You promised to guarantee my security (until I drink the water I threw away earlier). “Umar said,” You lie. “

Anas bin Malik said, “He is right O Amir al-mu’minin, you have guaranteed his security.” Umar said, “Don’t be foolish, Anas. I guarantee the safety of the person who killed your sister, Al-Barra bin Malik and Majza’ah bin Tsur ?! Not! Impossible!”

Anas said, “But you said,” You are safe until you drink this water. “Ahnaf supported Anas’ words, as did the others. Umar looked at Hurmuzan furiously, “You fooled me!”

Finally Hurmuzan embraced Islam, then Umar gave him a share of two thousand dirhams a year.

The thing that made Umar upset his heart was the frequency of the Persians breaking their promises to the Muslims. Then he gathered the envoys who had come with Hurmuzan and asked, “Do Muslims like to disturb the dhimmi people and pressure them so they violate the agreement?”

They said, “By Allah, O Amir al-mu’minin, none of our officials do evil to them, violate promises or cheat.” Umar asked, “So they always turn around whenever there is a chance when they are bound by an agreement?”

Umar Radhiyallahu ‘anhu was not satisfied with the answers of the envoys. At that moment Ahnaf spoke up, “I will try to explain what Amir al-mu’minin wants from your question. Umar said, “Say what you know.” Ahnaf clarified the answers of the envoys, “They want to say,” You forbid us from extending power in Persia and order that we be satisfied with the territories in our hands. Though Persia still stands as a sovereign empire, it still has a living emperor. No wonder the Persians always subvert us, because they want to reclaim the houses and property in our hands. Their friends who are bound by the agreement we try to join every time there is an opportunity and opportunity to win. Indeed, there cannot be two powers united in one region, one must definitely get out. If only you allowed us to conquer all of them, then they would stop fighting and finish the matter. “

For a moment Umar pondered to hear the description, then said, “You are truly O Ahnaf. Now there are things that have not been reached by my mind about the people. “

Later, thanks to the advice of the Ahnafiah, major events finally followed. Ahnaf’s advice is very visible affecting the wheel of history.

Imam Abu Hanifah An-Nu’man, Proof of Smart and Intelligence

One time Abu Hanifah met Imam Malik who was sitting with several of his friends. After Abu Hanifah came out, Imam Malik turned to them and said, “Do you know who he is?” They replied, “No.” He said, “He is Nu’man bin Thabit, who if said that the pillar of the mosque was golden, he would say being used by people as an argument. “

It is not said to be an exaggeration of what Imam Malik said in describing Abu Hanifah himself, because he did have the power to achieve, fast capture, be smart and sharp in his insight.

Historical books and stories very much illustrate the strength of his argument in dealing with his interlocutors when fighting arguments, as well as when confronting opponents of the faith. All of them proved the truth of Imam Malik’s praise: “If he said that the land in your hand was golden, then you would justify it for the right reasons and follow his statement.” What if the truth is maintained, and arguments to defend the truth? “

As evidence, there was a man from Kufah who was misled by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. He is a respected person and is heard by his talk. The man accused in front of the people that Uthman bin Affan was originally a Jew, then embraced Jews again after his Islam.

In order to hear the news, Abu Hanifah rushed to meet him and said, “I came to you to propose your daughter named fulanah to a friend of mine.” He said, “Congratulations on your arrival. People like you are not worthy of being denied the need, Abu Hanifa. However, who is the suitor? “He replied,” A prominent and rich man in the midst of his people, generous and light-handed, memorized the Book of Allah, spent the night with one bow and often cried out for fear and fear of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. “

The man said, “Wow … wow … enough, O Abu Hanifah, some of what you mentioned was enough for him to propose to a daughter of Amir al-mu’minin.” Abu Hanifah said, “It’s just that there is one thing you need consider. “He asked,” What is that? “Abu Hanifah said,” He is a Jew. “Hearing this, the man was startled and asked:” Jew ?! Do you want me to marry my daughter to a Jew, O Abu Hanifah? For God’s sake I will not marry my daughter with her, even though she has everything from the beginning to the end. “

Then Abu Hanifah said, “You refuse to marry your daughter with a Jew and you deny it violently, but you spread the news to the people that the Messenger of Allah sallalla‘ alaihi wa sallam married his two daughters to Jews (ie Uthman)? “

As soon as the person trembled then said, “Astaghfirullah, I beg God for forgiveness for the bad words I say. I repent of the foul accusation I made. “

Another example, there was a Khawarij named adh-Dhahak ash-Shari who had come to see Abu Hanifa and said,

Adh-Dhahak: “O Abu Hanifa, repent you.”

Abu Hanifah: “What do you believe in?”

Ad-Dhahak: “From your opinion that justifies the establishment of the tahkim between Ali and Mu’awiyah.

Abu Hanifah: “Will you discuss with me on this issue?”

Adh-Dhahak: “Okay, I’m willing.”

Abu Hanifah: “If we later disagree, who will be the judge among us?”

Adh-Dhahak: “Choose as you like.”

Abu Hanifa turned to another Khawarij who accompanied the man and said:

Abu Hanifah: “You are the judge between us.” (And to the first person he asked 🙂 “I am willing to be your friend to be a judge, are you also willing?”

Adh-Dhahak: “Yes, I am willing.”

Abu Hanifah: “How is this, you accept tahkim for what happened between me and you, but reject the two companions of the Prophet sallallaahu‘ alaihi wa sallam who are blessed? “

So the man died of fleas and was unable to speak a word.

Another example is that Jahm bin Sofwan, frontman of the misguided Jahmiyah group, disseminator of Bid’ah and heresy on earth once visited Abu Hanifah while saying,

Jahm: “I came to talk about some of the things that I have prepared.”

Abu Hanifah: “Dialogue with you is blasphemous and dissolves with what you are talking about means a burning hell.”

Jahm: “How can you sentence me to that, even though you have never met me before and haven’t heard my opinions?”

Abu Hanifah: “It has come to me the news of you who have argued with unworthy opinions coming out of the mouth of the Qibla (Muslim) expert.”

Jahm: “Do you judge me unilaterally?”

Abu Hanifah: “General and special people already know about you, so that I may punish you with something you have been told about you.

Jahm: “I don’t want to talk or ask anything except about faith.”

Abu Hanifah: “Do you not yet know about the problem until you need to ask me?”

Jahm: “I really understand, but I doubt one part.”

Abu Hanifah: “Doubt in faith in kufr.”

Jahm: “You must not accuse me of kufr before hearing about what caused me kufr.”

Abu Hanifah: “Damn asking!”

Jahm: “It has come to me about someone who knows and recognizes God in his heart that He has no allies, no one equals Him and knows His attributes, then that person dies without verbalizing, this person is punished by believers or infidels ? “

Abu Hanifah: “He died in an infidel state and became a dweller of hell if he did not declare with his tongue what his heart knew, while there was no barrier for him to say it.”

Jahm: “Why is it not considered a believer when he really knows Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala?”

Abu Hanifah: “If you believe in the Koran and want to make it as proof, then I will continue talking. But if you do not believe in the Qur’an and do not use it as proof, then it means that I am talking to people who oppose Islam. “

Jahm: “I even believe in the Koran and make it into proof.”

Abu Hanifah: “Surely Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala makes faith in two joints, namely by heart and verbally, not just one of them. Kitabullah and the hadith of the Prophet clearly stated this:

“And when they hear what is revealed to the Messenger (Muhammad), you see their eyes shed tears because of the truth (the Qur’an) that they have known (from their own books); while saying, kami Our Lord, we have believed, so record us with those who are witnesses (for the truth of the Qur’an and the prophethood of Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam). Why are we not going to believe in Allah and the truth that comes to us, even though we really want our Lord to put us into the group of righteous people? ‘So Allah gave them a reward for the words they spoke, (ie) heaven rivers flow in it, while they abide therein. And that is the reward (for) those who do good (who are sincere in their faith). “(QS. Al-Maidah: 83-85)

Because they knew the truth in their hearts and then stated it verbally, then Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala put it in heaven where there were rivers flowing because of the statement of his faith. Allah Ta’ala also said:

“Say (O believers): ‘We believe in Allah and what was revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Ismail, Ishaq, Ya’qb and his descendants, and what was given to Moses and Isa and what given to the prophets of his Lord. We do not discriminate between them and we only submit to Him ‘. “(Surat al-Baqarah: 136)

God told them to say it verbally, not only with ma’rifah and science alone. Likewise with the hadith of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam:

“Say, Laa ilaaha ilallah, surely you will be lucky.”

So it is not said to be lucky if it is only known and not confirmed by words.

The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:

“Will be expelled from hell whoever speaks laa ilaaha illallah …”

And the Prophet did not say, “Will be expelled from the hellfire whoever analyzes Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala,”

If only oral statements were not needed just enough with knowledge, the devil would also be a believer, because he knew his Rabb, knew that Allah created him, He also turned him on and off, and who would raise him up, knowing that Allah misled him. Allah Ta’ala said when imitating his words:

“I am better than that:” You created me from fire while he created you from the ground. “(Surah Al-A’raf: 12)

Then:

“Satan said: anku My God, (if so) then give respite to me until the day (mankind) is raised ‘.” (QS. Al-Hijr: 36)

Also the word of Allah Ta’ala:

“Satan replied,” Because you punished me for being lost, I will truly (obstruct) them from the path of Your righteousness. “(QS. Al-A’raf: 16)

If what you say is true, surely there will be many unbelievers who are considered believers because they know their Rabb even if they deny their oralities.

The Word of God Subhanahu wa Ta’ala:

“And they denied it because of injustice and pride (their) even though their hearts may be (the truth).” (QS. An-Naml: 140

Even though they were not called believers despite believing in them, they were considered infidels because of their verbal falsehood.

Abu Hanifah continued to attack Jahm bin Shafwan with strong hujjah-hujjah, sometimes with the Qur’an and sometimes with traditions. Finally the person was overwhelmed and there was a look of contempt in his face. He scuttled in front of Abu Hanifah while saying, “You have reminded me of something I have forgotten, I will return to you.” Then he left not to return.

Another case, when Abu Hanifah met with atheists who denied the existence of al-Khaliq. He told them:

“What do you think, if there is a ship loaded with goods, full of goods and loads. The ship sailed injury. The waves are small, the wind is calm. But after the ship arrived in the middle suddenly a big storm broke out. Strangely, the ship continued to sail calmly so that it arrived at its destination according to the plan without shaking and turning directions, even though there was no captain who drove and controlled the course of the ship. Does this story make sense? “

They said, “It’s impossible. It is something that cannot be accepted by reason, even by imagination, O Shaykh. “Then Abu Hanifa said,” Subhanallah, you deny the existence of ships that sail themselves without a driver, but you admit that the universe which consists of oceans stretches, a sky full of stars, and celestial bodies and flying birds without the perfect Creator of His creation and arranging them carefully ?! Woe to you, then what makes you deny Allah? “

Thus, Abu Hanifah spent all his life spreading dienullah with the power of the arguments that al-Khaliq bestowed on him. He faced opponents with the right argument.

When he died picking him up, he found a will that told him to be buried in good land, far away from all the places with the status of syubhat (unclear) or the results of ghashab.

When the will was heard by Amir al-mu’minin al-Manshur he said, “Who else is cleaner than Abu Hanifa in his life and death.”

In addition, he also advised that his body would later be bathed by al-Hasan bin Amarah. After carrying out his message, Ibn Amarah said, “May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala bless you O Abu Hanifa, may Allah forgive your sins because of the services you have done, really you have never broken shaum for thirty years, not argue when you sleep for forty years, and your departure will make the fuqaha sluggish after you. “

Tabi’in’s story: Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi, Governor of Andalusia

After the caliph Umar bin Abdil Aziz cleaned his hands after attending the funeral of his uncle’s son, Caliph Sulaiman bin Abdul Malik, he held a large-scale turn of the governors and officials. Among the new officials inaugurated were as-Samah bin Malik al-Khaulani who was responsible for all of Andalusia (now Spain and Portugal ed.) And several cities he had conquered in France.

This new governor immediately occupied his place of service in Spain. Then observe the situation and look for good friends who can help him. The first time he asked was, “Is there still a generation of senior tabi’in here?” The people answered, “Still, here there is still a main tabi’in named Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi.” Then they praised tabi knowledge and expertise ‘in this about the traditions of the Prophet sallallaahu’ alaihi wa sallam, his role in jihad, his longing for syahadah fi sabillah and zuhud for the pleasures of the world. He also studied with his main friend, Abdullah bin Umar bin Khathth whose knowledge and behavior were very similar to his father.

Governor as-Samah bin Malik immediately invited Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi. The arrival of the character Tabi’in was greeted with respect, then the two of them sat side by side finally surrendering after four weeks of defending in a terrible battle that had never been witnessed by Europe.

The next target is Toulouse, the capital of Octania. Without wasting time, Islamic forces immediately installed a kind of mines in various places, then began attacks with unknown weapons in Europe. Almost this city surrendered, except that an unexpected event occurred. Let’s follow how a French orientalist named Rhino described the great war:

The glory on the part of the Islamic forces is at the door. At that time, King Octania left for Europe to look for reinforcements. He spread messengers throughout the country. He provoked the kings of Europe by warning of the dangers of Islamic expansion which would spread to their territory as well. So that women and their children are prisoners. The result, not a single country but sent troops in particular complete with weapons that became their mainstay.

The number of troops was so large, the roar of the voices of the soldiers and the complete weapons of war had never been seen by the world before that. Until the flying dust covers the city of Rhone from the sun, because of the many feet that step on it.

When the two camps were facing each other, people imagined that the mountain was facing a mountain. A fierce war is inevitable. as-Samah bin Malik was always at the front line. He was nicknamed Dzaama, moving swiftly to the right and left wing tirelessly. That’s when the arrow slid about him. So the mighty supreme commander fell and was martyred.

As soon as he learned that the commander was dead, shake the Islamic forces. Fall down in their mental struggle, then the ranks start to mess. They moved backwards and it was almost certain that European forces had succeeded in destroying them if at that critical moment did not appear the smart and formidable figure that had been respected by Europeans, namely Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi.

Under the command of the new commander, the Islamic forces moved backwards without suffering much loss. They moved to Spain with determination to make up for their defeat.

Thus, the great war of Toulouse gave birth to an agile new commander and managed to save the Islamic army from the emergence of many victims. If the troops are like caravans that almost die of thirst in the middle of the Sahara, then Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi is the one who presents them with drinks. He became the foundation of the Muslim soldiers to restore strength and guide them away from the many fallen victims.

It is no exaggeration if the battle of Toulouse incised the first wound that was very painful for the Islamic forces since setting foot on the European continent. The presence of Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi was the antidote to the wound and with his loving hand he cared for them with all his attention.

The news of the defeat of the Islamic forces finally reached the ears of the Caliph in Damascus and fostered a burning determination to avenge the fall of as-Samah bin Malik al-Khaulani. He ordered that all soldiers carry out bai’at to Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi. Now he is appointed as the leader of all Spain and the regions of France that have been successfully controlled. With this position he gained autonomy to regulate the strategy he wanted.

The decision was not a ridiculous act, because Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi was indeed an agile, assertive, honest, clean, wise and brave.

New leader Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi is not wasting time. He immediately restored the Islamic forces, forged the determination of the soldiers, restored their confidence, honor and strength. All aimed at continuing the obsession of Spanish Muslim figures since the Age of Moses bin Nushair to as-Samah bin Malik, namely ruling France, Italy, Germany to Constantinople, and making the middle white sea as an ocean of Islam and renaming the Roman sea into the sea of Sham.

It is believed that Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi examined and responded to all the complaints. Acting on those who apply persecution and returning the rights of weak people. He examined the churches that were seized and returned them to the rightful ones, destroying new buildings that were erected from bribes. Then examine the officials one by one and dismiss officials who are proven to be treacherous or deviant. Then replace it with people who can be trusted abilities and morals. Every time he entered an area, he called on his people to pray for the congregation, then gave sermons to pump up the spirit of jihad and arouse their longing for recitation and death.

Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi is not only good at talking. Since taking control of his power, he is also busy preparing various important facilities and infrastructure. Guns were produced, exercises were held, damaged fortresses were fixed and bridges were built. One of the historic bridges that can be witnessed until now is that built in Cordova, the capital of Spain. The bridge crosses a large river that can be used for traffic and keeps the country from the danger of flooding. The bridge is one of the wonders of the world. Its length reaches 800 ba (one ba ’as long as two hands), height 60 ba’, wide 20 ba ’with 18 sluice gates and 19 pillars, until now become the pride of Spanyaol nation.

Every time Abdurrahman visited each region, he did not forget to have a meeting with the leaders of the armed forces and community leaders. He noticed and noted their views and proposals. He listened more to the responses in the meetings than to speak. A similar meeting was held for zhimmi leaders who were bound by an agreement with Muslims. Not infrequently he asked to detail the matters concerning the country and their leaders.

Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi once invited a French-born zhimmi who was bound by an agreement. Among the contents of the conversation are as follows. Abdurrahman asked, “Why is your king, Syarl not come down to help other kings who fight with us?” The Zhimmi replied, “O governor, you have kept our promises. You have the right to trust us and we will answer everything you ask honestly. Surely your great commander, Musa bin Nushair has succeeded in taking control of all of Spain. Then he wanted to cross the Pyrenees mountains that separated Spain from our beautiful country. So the little kings and monks came to our king and said: “What shame will come upon us, O king? We heard about the Muslims and thought they would come from the East, but apparently they emerged from the West and immediately controlled Spain. Even though this country has strong weapons and defense. Now they are beginning to crawl in the mountains that limit Spain to our country. Actually their numbers are small, weapons are few and most do not have war clothes that can protect the body from the swords of swords or stout horses to ride on the battlefield. “

Then the supreme king said, “I have thought this problem deeply and I think for now we do not need to face them directly. They’re steel-minded people, like big waves that sweep away all barriers and dump them where they like. In addition, they are people who have a strong aqidah so they don’t pay attention to numbers and weapons. They have faith and honesty that are far more valuable than weapons, war clothes or horses. Therefore, it is better for us to let them, the Muslims continue to accumulate wealth and ghanimah, then build houses and buildings and multiply the number of male and female slaves and see, they will surely fight for power. At that time we can conquer them easily without many sacrifices … “

Shocked Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi, sad to hear the news. He sighed deeply then dispersed the assembly as the prayer times entered.

Two full years Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi prepared himself to meet the great war. He formed army units and ceaselessly burned their jihad. In addition, he also requested assistance from Islamic leaders in Africa to send their soldiers who had the courage of jihad and longed for martyrdom.

After that, he sent Utsman bin Abi Nus’ah amir to the border to occupy the enemy with sporadic attacks while waiting for the core forces led by Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi to arrive on the battlefield.

However, it turned out that the choice of Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi was wrong. Uthman bin Abi Nus’ah is an ambitious but weak man. The distance from the leader opened the opportunity for him to take steps that could raise his name regardless of other issues. He even kidnapped Duke Octania’s daughter, Minin, a very beautiful princess. In her, she collected beauty, nobility, young age, and wealth as residents of the palace. No wonder if Uthman bin Abi Nus’ah finally became crazy about him and paid more attention than to a wife. The princess proposed that Uthman bin Abi Nus’ah enter into a peace agreement with Duke Octania accompanied by a guarantee that Minin’s father was safe from attacks by Islamic warriors.

That is, when the order of Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi arrived to invade the territory of Duke Octania, a sense of hesitation enveloped Ibn Abi Nus’ah’s heart. He did not know what to do, but then he persuaded Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi to cancel his order. He really was unable to betray his promise to his father-in-law before his end.

Not playing furiously Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi was so aware of his case. Through the envoy, he advised Utsman bin Abi Nus’ah. “The agreement that you do without the permission of the leader is invalid, so there is no obligation for Islamic soldiers to obey it. Now carry out my orders immediately, attack the enemy right now! “

Ibnu Abi Nus’ah felt hopeless because he failed to soften the attitude of his governor. He immediately sent an envoy to his father’s father to tell him what had happened and warned him to be on guard against the Muslim forces.

But unfortunately, the spy Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi who always supervised his movements knew this and reported the relationship between Uthman bin Abi Nus’ah and the enemy to Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi. Immediately afterwards, al-Ghafiqi sent a particularly strong force under the command of Mujahid to bring Uthman bin Abi Nus’ah, alive or dead.

The attack is sudden. The operation was almost successful, but Uthman bin Abi Nus’ah managed to escape from siege. He ran to the mountain accompanied by several people, as well as Minin, his beautiful wife who could no longer be separated from him.

That did not make Islamic soldiers broke. They continued to chase and finally managed to corner the traitor somewhere. Finally, Uthman bin Abi Nus’ah defended himself completely. He died because of the many stabs and spears of the sword that wounded his body. His body was immediately sent to Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi with his wife.

As soon as he saw Minin, Abdurrahman al-Ghafiqi immediately turned his face away. The woman is indeed amazing. Then he was sent to Damascus to be handed over to the Caliph. So the history of the French woman was finished in the palace of Umawi in Damascus.
